چکیده

Abstract This paper proposes a scattering area model for processing multipath parameters achieve single base station positioning. First of all, we construct based on the spatial layout obstacles near and then collect signals needed positioning extract parameters. Second, use joint clustering algorithm improved by k-means mean shift to process useful information. Third, processed information is combined with equations, solving problem equations converted into least-squares optimization problem. Finally, Levenberg-Marquardt (LM) used solve optimal solution estimate mobile target position. The simulation results show that in this can be locate an outdoor non-line-of-sight (NLOS) environment, accuracy compared traditional algorithm.

Single Base-station 3D Positioning Method using Ultrasonic Reflections

In context awareness applications the locations of people, devices or objects are often required. Ultrasound technology enables high resolution position measurements indoors. A disadvantage of state-of-the-art ultrasonic systems is that several base stations are required to estimate a 3D position. Since fewer base stations leads to lower cost and easier setup, a novel method is presented that r...

3G base station positioning using simulated annealing

during the planning of an UMTS radio network, there is a natural need for a base station positioning procedure. Good coverage at an acceptable level of network installation and maintaining costs, low interference and uniform interface load are the main requirements. In this paper we present an approach based on simulated annealing.

GPS positioning in a multipath environment

We address the problem of GPS signal delay estimation in a multipath environment with a low-complexity constraint. After recalling the usual early–late estimator and its bias in a multipath propagation context, we study the maximum-likelihood estimator (MLE) based on a signal model including the parametric contribution of reflected components. It results in an efficient algorithm using the exis...

TOA localization for multipath and NLOS environment with virtual stations

An effective geometrical method which can locate a source based on the time-of-arrival (TOA) measurements and the floor plan information is proposed in simple non-line-of-sight (NLOS) indoor environment where the multiplebound scattering signal paths can be ignored. The novelty of our work resides in converting the NLOS problem into line-of-sight (LOS) problem based on the virtual stations (VSs...

The Complexity of Base Station Positioning in Cellular Networks

We consider two optimization problems for cellular telephone networks, that arise in a recently discussed ITU proposal for a traffic load model. These problems address the positioning of base stations (on given possible locations) with the aim to maximize the number of supplied demand nodes and minimize the number of stations that have to be built. We show that these problems are hard to approx...
